How Do I Fight My Fears?

Trepidation

Fear is normal. Courage is not the absence of fear but the confrontation of it. The only way to overcome fear is to confront it.

Types of Fear:

- The fear of Failure: failure is not a defeat, it is only an event. The last time you failed was an opportunity to reinvent yourself. If you’re scared of doing things, you keep procrastinating. Learn to manage failure; the more you fail, the closer you get to succeed.

- The fear of Competition: Life is a competition; it is a race. To be outstanding, learn to build-up uniqueness – through the build-up of constructive ideas, confidence and above all, honesty. Start selling something that your competitors don’t have. Don’t run away from your competitors, for he who runs away from a fight will live to fight another day. Life is not a popularity contest; it is a contest.

- The fear of Competence: Learn to overcome the “I can’t do it” syndrome. The Bible confirms that you can do all things through Christ, who strengthens you. We often waste our time waiting for others to live up to our expectation. We must learn to declare our independence of people’s expectation. Never live to please people; please God and you’ll find fulfillment within and around you.

- The fear of Change: Most of us want to change our current status for the better, whereas we don’t want to change our ways of thinking, talking and/or acting. There are a lot of changes that must take place in your life if you want to find yourself in a new era. To see changes, one must acknowledge the need for change, which we must accept.

- The fear of the Unfamiliar: Anytime we have to do something new, we fear. If you want to move the world, then stop treading the same path and do something new. If you do common things you’ll become common and soon fade away; when you do unimaginable things, you’ll become exceptional and leave an indelible imprint on posterity’s mind.

- The fear of Critics: The fear of critics will only mean you not doing anything. Sometimes our enemies’ opinions about us might be right, because they see us and we don’t see ourselves. Dogs will always bark, monkeys will chatter and critics will always criticize. Accept criticism and do what is right.

Have Done With Fear

What is the solution?

First, realize that your feeling of fear is your heaviest burden. Talk to your subconscious. Listen to your subconscious. You will probably hear things like this: What you are most afraid of won’t happen. Act on it. Take courage from it.

Put fear out of your mind. Be positive. You want to work magic and you can work magic, if you determine to have done with fear.
To prove that you can work magic, you must show that you are not afraid. You have thought yourself into that fear with your mind. Run yourself out of it with your legs.
